Club Development and Grant Updates
The Clann na nGael executive is thrilled to share some exciting news about several grant awards received by the club in 2024, enabling significant enhancement projects to begin over 2024 and 2025.
In July, the club was awarded a Community Climate Action grant from the Department of Environment, Climate, and Communications. This grant to fund the replacement of existing windows and doors is now completed, with the electrical upgrades to the clubhouse nearing completion.
In October, the Department of Rural and Community Development announced the award of a CLÁR grant to the club. This funding will allow for new seating in the existing viewing stand and the upgrade of the gravel car park to a full tarmacadam surface. Work on these improvements is expected to begin in the first half of 2025.
Also in October, the club received great news from the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports, and Media: a Sports Capital Programme (SCP) grant has been awarded. This funding will support the development of a second full sand-based playing pitch with steel perimeter fencing. Construction for this project is anticipated to start in the first half of 2025, with the new pitch expected to be ready for play by the 2026 season.
The executive extends its gratitude to all club members who invested significant time and effort in securing these grants. A sincere thank-you is also extended to Roscommon Co-Co and the various government departments for their support in approving the funding. The club executive would also like to express heartfelt appreciation to local political representatives for their invaluable guidance and assistance with the grant applications.
Finally, we remember and thank Cllr. John Naughton for all his support. John was a true friend and committed club member and will be sadly missed.
