Clann Notes - 5/9/22
Junior Ladies Championship
Clann’s Supermacs sponsored Junior team faced their toughest test so far in their short Adult Career when they faced the experienced St. Croan’s in Johnstown on Friday night last. Having overcome St. Croan’s second team earlier in the league, tonight’s fixture was against their superior first team which ensured a tough game was to follow. The visitors got off to a magnificent start scoring 2:03 without reply but Clann, buoyed but the return of Therese Lennon after her long injury lay-off, who in turn opened the scoring for the Juniors. With the home team predominantly made up of U16 & Minors, the girls gave it their all to hold on to St. Croans first team but unfortunately went in at half time 0:05 to 6:09.
The home team fared much better in the second half, occasionally outdone by St Croans swift and punishing counter attack but the girls fought hard and added 1:06 to Thor tally. Éadaoin Lennon’s return to play after her summer away and Chloe Shanahan’s return from injury was another welcome bonus for the home team but this match was just not to be for the Juniors, a tough score line which did not do justice to the commitment of this young and upcoming team. Final score in Johnstown 1:11 - 8:19.
