Junior A Final 2020
Congratulations to our Seery's Bar sponsored Men's Second Team who claimed the delayed 2020 Junior A Championship title in Dr. Hyde Park on Friday last. The game was filled with drama, with two periods of extra time before Clann finally pulled a point ahead.

Clann started strong and led throughout most of the game, the goal by Killian Bannon giving Clann an early lead after great work by Callum O'Brien. At half time, Clann led 1-04 to 0-05. However, St. Brigids came back into the game in the second half and the game finished level, 1-09 to 0-12. In extra time, Clann looked to have run out of steam, with St. Brigids going 4 points ahead. However, a late rally including an equalising score from captain Oliver Harney saw the game go to a second period of extra time on a score of 1-13 to 1-13.

The game looked like it could go to penalties before the only point of the second period of extra time, from Killian Bannon at the start of the second half, proved to be the difference as the game finished 1-14 to 1-13. Scenes of jubilation ensued after the team gave absolutely everything for over 90 minutes of football and Oliver Harney accepted the cup on behalf of the club. The lads will now play Intermediate Championship for 2021. Well done to the lads and management and thanks to our sponsors Seery's Bar Athlone.

Wedding Bells
After the excitement in Hyde Park on Friday night, the Junior A (now Intermediate) team manager and Senior selector Niall Shine turned his attention to matters closer to home as he walked down the aisle to marry his fiancé Hayley Irwin on Saturday. We wish Hayley and Niall the very best of luck today and wish them well for their future together.

Few in Clann are as dedicated to the club as Niall and he's sure to be spotted in Johnstown most evenings, whether it's with the Men's first or second teams. The success late into the evening on Friday was a just reward for Niall's commitment and we hope it got the party started ahead of the big day.
