Clann Notes - 17/8/20
Senior Championship
Well done to our Matrix Bathrooms sponsored Senior Men who overcame Strokestown in Johnstown on Saturday last in Round 3 of the Championship. Thanks to our parks committee who had the pitch and grounds in perfect condition for the game. A minutes silence was observed before the game for Morgan Keena who we tragically lost earlier this year.
Youngsters Dylan Sumner and Fearghus Lennon started and gave great accounts for themselves, both getting on the scoresheet.
Strokestown started strongly and it was an even first quarter, but Clann pulled away in the second half, with Cathal Callinan and Cian McManus pulling the strings in the forwards, veterans Graham Pettit and David Flynn in control at the back.
In the second half, led by brothers Ciaran and Feargal Lennon, took control and ran out 0-17 to 1-06 winners. Only for some fine saves by keeper John McHugh, it could have been a much bigger scoreline.
Also playing well in the game was Cathal Shine, Shane Pettit, Emmet Kenny, David McManus and Ultan Harney, who made his return to the starting 15.
We were delighted to live stream the game for our supporters and thanks to Emmet Durney for the fine commentary and Fergal Shine for the half time analysis.
Clann now progress to the Quarter-Final draw which takes place next week.
