Message from the Keena family
Note of appreciation from the Keena family following the passing of Morgan Keena
We would like to thank everyone who has supported us over the last few weeks, culminating in Morgan’s untimely passing on Saturday, February 22nd.
We’ll be forever indebted to the GAA community in Roscommon and further afield, but particularly to Clann na nGael. What the Club did will never be forgotten.
We’d like to thank Aiden Brien, Dermot Kelly, P. Brien and the Clann na nGael executive who went above and beyond the call of duty during Morgan’s brief illness and subsequent passing.
Morgan loved Clann na nGael. He represented the club as a player, and even though he lived in Westmeath he was a Clann na nGael referee.
Morgan wanted to get to the next level, and he was really looking forward to his first intercounty match. The irony is that it was in Johnstown, and what subsequently happened there.
He was never one for the limelight but he would have been extremely proud of the way Clann na nGael rallied around the family.
From the car parking attendants to the Ladies looking after the refreshments, to the way the dressing rooms were reserved for the family on the day of the removal in the clubhouse, the whole set-up was incredible. It was obvious that the club had put a lot of thought into it, and we as a family really appreciates everything the club did for us.
Can I also acknowledge Our Senior Management Team and panel for the way they came in as a group, it would've been exactly the way Morgan would have expected it
The Guard of Honor from the Clubhouse on Sunday was incredible and from the Church to the Grave yard on Monday really was a testament to the Man.
Everyone went out of their way to help us and we can’t thank ye enough. Knowing that support is there for us will be some source of comfort in the difficult days, weeks and months ahead. Our mother Maura will always be indebted to the club for the sensitive and dignified way you handled things
We would like to wish Morgan's fellow club Referee's Sean, Kevin, David and Seamie the best for the future and we would like to give the Club our best wishes for the coming year ahead.
Mike Keena on behalf of the Keena family.
