Clann na nGael is a thriving Gaelic Football club catering for boys and girls from all ages up to adult level. The club is based just outside Athlone in County Roscommon and has both an urban and rural playing base. The club are now looking to appoint a Games Promotion Officer on a full time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for the ideal candidate to become an integral part of the future growth and development of the club.
Job Title: Games Promotion Officer (GPO), Clann na nGael
Reporting to: Clann na nGael, Coaching Committee
Salary: Competitive
Hours: Full Time (39 hours per week)
Main Purpose of the Job:
The post holder will be responsible for leading the underage games development and coaching work within the club and our feeder schools at both primary and secondary level. The work programme for the post will be agreed on an ongoing basis with the Club Coaching Committee.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
1. Devise and implement Coaching Plan in all feeder Primary Schools and Secondary School.
2. Organise Blitzes between Primary level feeder schools throughout the year.
3. Provide foundation level courses for students in our local Secondary School.
4. Delivery of development initiatives to our local Secondary School.
5. Coaching and supporting of underage teams within the club and implementation of Clann Player Development Pathway.
6. Assist in the development of club coaching structures throughout the entire underage system.
7. Running of Halloween, Christmas, Easter and Summer Camps.
8. Organise and present at annual coach education workshop for all club coaches.
9. Assist in fulfilling the administration related to the Coach Education Programme and maintenance of records of courses and participants.
10. Develop & improve participation rates among non-Irish and non-traditional GAA families in our Parish.
11. Organise events to improve the club’s profile and playing base within the urban areas of the Parish.
The above list is not exhaustive and may include any other reasonable duties as required and deemed appropriate to the post.
Applicants must possess:
1. GAA Level 1 Coaching Qualification.
2. Excellent administration, organisational and IT skills.
3. Clear Driving licence and own car.
4. Excellent time keeper and of a reliable nature.
5. Knowledge of the GAA Player Development Pathway.
Preference may be given to applicants with:
(i) A degree (or equivalent third level qualification) in physical education / sports development or any other relevant discipline to the post.
(ii) Level 2 GAA Coaching Award.
(iii) Previous coaching experience at primary schools / secondary school level in the past 3 years.
