U.16 Update

Clann na nGael 6-21 0-03 St. Kieran’s
Clann na nGael’s Westside Dental sponsored under-16 team got back to winning ways after last week’s disappointing defeat to Pearses when they had a good win over St. Kieran’s at Fuerty on Friday evening last.

The Clann lads settled well with three early points, and goals from Conor Ryan and John Shine put them in a strong position midway through the first half. Further goals from Conor O’Reilly and John Shine helped them to a 4-6 to 0-1 interval lead.

Clann had the aid of a strong breeze in the second half and continued to apply pressure on the St. Kieran’s goal. A brace of goals from Thomas O’Neill and a succession of points helped them to a convincing win.

This was a good all-round performance from Clann, built on a solid display from the defence. Shane and Luke Gavin and Tom Lennon were all in excellent form in the half-back line, and behind them Michael Harrington was very sound at full-back with great support from Eoin Connaughton and Ollie Hynes in the corners. Neil Hannon brought off some fine saves in goal. Clann’s last fixture in the league stages of the championship is against Boyle on Friday night next in Johnstown at 7 p.m.
