MacNamee Awards GAA Website of the Year 2016

Club Notes - 01/07/19

The Feile Championship took place over the weekend with Clann hosting Wolfe Tones of Armagh and Crosserlough of Cavan. Festivities got underway with a parade and march of our boys and girls teams followed by a number of entertaining fixtures with both sets of teams doing well. Our boys reached the quarter finals while our girls reached the final but were unlucky to miss out on the silerware. Both sets of teams did us proud over the weekend and there was great enjoyment in the clubhouse with great festivities and enjoyment had. Many thanks to all the club members who did their part in making the weekend a success.

Ladies Championship
Clann na nGael 4-09 2-06 Shannon Gaels

The Sheraton Athlone Hotel Senior team opened their Championship campaign on Sunday last. Their opponents were last years Semi-Finalists Shannon Gaels and the game took place on a pristine new pitch in Croghan. The game started in monsoon type conditions and Clann got the scoreboard moving in the first half and led 3-3 to 1-1 at the break.
The home side came out flying on the restart and had reduced the arrears to 4 points midway through the second half. The Clann girls rallied with some fine scores and ran out 9 point winners.
The girls played well but an improvement is needed to move forward in the Championship. They now play Western Gaels at 12 in Sunday in Johnstown.
