Feile 2019

The Countdown is well and truely on to the 28th June when the John West GAA Féile Peile 2019 gets underway across Connacht! We are delighted to be hosting Wolfe Tones from Armagh and Crosserlough from Cavan. We are looking forward to a fantastic weekend of football!

In Johnstown we have four matches Friday evening (all girls) and two matches Saturday morning (one girls and one boys). We are having a social event (food and disco) in Johnstown for both teams we are hosting on Saturday evening.

We are having a parade in Johnstown on Friday evening at 3.45pm for the four girls teams in our group to kick off the activities. These teams are Clann, Padraig Pearses (Roscommon), Wolfe Tones (Armagh) & St Brigids (Monaghan). Please show your support for all Feile events this weekend.

U.14 Girls Div.1 League Final

Clann na nGael 6-04 0-10 St. Brigids

Our U14 Girls produced a tremendous display of committed and high quality football to overcome St. Brigids in the league final played earlier this week in Kiltoom. We came into the game as underdogs but were buoyed by a strong semi-final win over Padraig Pearses.

Clann settled faster on the night and led 3 points to no score after 10 minutes, excellent defensive work keeping the strong St. Brigids forward line at bay. The remainder of the 1st half was end to end with Clann eventually taking 2 of the many goal chances they had created to lead 2-03 to 0-05 at the break.

Our opponents backed by the elements narrowed the gap early in the 2nd half but Clann’s ability to find the back of the net proved decisive and we ran out deserving winners. After the match our captain Shauna Kenny accepted the trophy on behalf of the jubilant squad.

The group now look forward to Feile and the summer Championship campaign, well done to all involved.
