Senior Ladies

Clann 5-14 1-05 St. Ciarans
The Sheraton Athlone Hotel Senior Ladies team got their league campaign under way, against St Ciarans in Fuerty in Sunday morning. Despite the arctic conditions Clann settled well and were five points up midway through the opening half. The home side rallied to reduce the arrears to the bare minimum after 53 minutes. Clann rattled off 4 points to in 2-5 to 1-3 at the break.

The Clann girls continued their dominance with some fine score taking in the second half. The home side never gave up and finished the scoring with 2 points. The Girls gave a very good performance and play Kilbride next Sunday in Johnstown.

Minor Boys Div.1 League

Clann 0-3 0-13 Oran / St. Croans
On Sunday last Clann minors played the 2nd round of the Roscommon Minor League Div 1. The visitors to Johnstown were Oran / St. Croans. On a very cold and wet day both teams endeavour to provide an hour’s entertainment for the small crowd gathered.

Oran/St. Croans settled quicker and had 3 points on the board before Clann opened their account. The visitors however continued to dominate despite Clann’s best efforts and went in at half-time leading by 0-7 to 0-2.

The second half continued in a similar fashion with Oran/St. Croans finding it easier to pick off points than the home side. Despite this had the home side a little bit more luck the scoreline could have been closer. The visitors deserved their win over the 60 mins. The Clann lads never gave up throughout the game and better results will come because of this.

Clann Panel: Declan Mc Manus, Joe Duignan (0-1 – Capt), Jason Ryan, Dan Westman, Joe Kelly, Paddy Gavin, Michael Kelly , Ian Harney (0-1), Aaron Oyiki, Cian Fallon-McGowan, Alan Mulvey, John Shine, Fearghus Lennon (0-1), John Feeney, Josh Lennon, Fionnan Henry, James Keane Flanagan , Mark Naughton, Sean Reynolds, Cian Gavin, Shane Flannery, Alan Mc Manus, Dean Reynolds, Jamie Tymon, Micheal Mc Clean, Damien Kelly, Jesse Middleton, Conor O’Reilly, Tom Shine, Neil Hannon, Mark Gannon, Michael Harrington, Thomas Lennon, Rian Carpenter.

U.16 Div.4

St Brigids 1-07 1-12 Clann
The sides served up an excellent game of football in Kiltoom with Clann getting the upper hand in this Division 4 clash on Friday night. The conditions were dreadful, but that didn’t stop the players from displaying skills and no little effort to overcome the elements. Clann struggled at times to cope with the bigger players from Brigids, but were a little more clinical with their finishing than the hosts. A solid defensive performance restricted our opponents and was the foundation for the victory. Next up is Roscommon Gaels for Div 4 and Kilbride in Div 1, times and dates to be confirmed.

Squad: David Campion, Conor McManus, Rory Colgen, John Shine, Cormac Westman, Ollie Hynes, Tomás O’Neill, Mike Daly, Charlie Kelly, Diarmuid O’Brien, Jack Gavin, Rob Connaughton, Paidi O’Leochain, Kyle Moroney, Oisin O’Flaherty, Eoghan Connaughton, Shane Gavin, Éanna Henry.

U.12 Boys Update

Our under 12 boys played their first game of the season when we hosted Ballinteer St Johns in Johnstown on Sunday morning. With some help from under 13s, we fielded three teams and all the boys acquitted themselves very well in the difficult conditions. Thanks to all who helped prepare pitches, feed our visitors and clean up afterwards. Special thanks to all the Ballinteer boys for making the trip. We hope all enjoyed their time in Johnstown and afterwards in Hyde Park.
