Junior A - Tansey Cup

The Seery's Bar sponsored Clann second team welcomed St. Barry's to Johnstown on Sunday last in the Tansey Cup. Clann started the game strongly and scored three unanswered points and set a good pace to the game. Clann controlled the first half and went 4 points up after a well worked goal which was finished off by Dylan Earle. Players worked hard all over the pitch with the defence holding tight to keep some strong St. Barry's attacks at bay. David Finneran made some crutial point blank saves to end the half with a score of 1-08 to 0-07.

The second half was much tougher for Clann as the St. Barry's team showed their experience to drag themselves back into the game. Clann were given some breathing space when a penalty was converted by Rian McNamara, but St. Barry's continued to add the points to keep the game in the balance. Clann worked hard and gave it their all to see out the match and finished the match with a well earned 1 point victory.

Congrats to Paddy Harney who has been selected as captain of the Junior team for the year.

U.14 Boys

Easter Camp / Team Building
Undeterred by the rain and the mud, our U14 boys made the most of the Easter holidays with a training camp ran over the course of Tuesday and Wednesday last. Many thanks to the parents who helped out on both days, ensuring the event ran without a hitch.

The week was topped off by a very enjoyable sojourn to “Cuckoo Hill” on Friday, where Tommie Costello and his crew put the lads through a series of obstacle and activity races, culminating in a race through the mud at the end. Aside from the fun element, another key aspect of this event was team building. Lads were separated from their usual groups, and required to work instead in specially chosen teams which mixed older & younger players, as well as different schools & neighbourhoods.

Many thanks to all who attended, and special thanks to Tommie and the staff at Cuckoo hill for a memorable day out. This will stand them in good stead for their next games (Division 1 team are away to Kilbride on Thursday next 12/04, 7pm) Now we just need to figure out how we’re going to get them all cleaned by then!

U.16 Girls

Clann v Padraig Pearses
Our clann girls played a strong Pearses team on Thursday 5th April. Clann played some fabulous football, some great linking moves that resulted in a number of well taken scores. Committed blocks and good team-work was evident. Half time score 1-09 to 1-04.

Clann led all the way but in the last 10 minutes Pearses picked up the pace and came back to draw the game. Great play was shown from Kayleigh Shine, Mia Macken, Anna Golden, Rebecca Campion and Aoife O'Neill. Pearses came out fighting hard in second half and took the lead by one point close to fulltime. Before the final whistle Clann had a goal disallowed which would have put them in the lead but Clann girls showed great deterimation to go on a score a final point thus ending in a draw.

Scorers: Kayleigh Shine 1-5, Kirsten Greasley 0-4, Mia Macken, 1-1, Ellie Hewitt 0-1, Rachel Brien 0-1, Caireann McGoldrick 0-1
