Clann U.14 Div.1 League Final

Clann 4-9 Padraig Pearses 3-6
On Thursday last in Ballyforan the matter of the U.14 Division 1 League title was settled, as Clann faced Padraig Pearses, in what was a cracking game.

Not even the teeming rain could hold back these teams, as each side gave it everything. Clann opened up the scoring with an early point, but after a rally by Pearses, it has to be said that the lads from Woodmount were on top at this stage of the game. A series of scores from a very composed Clann full forward (who would feature heavily on the scoresheet) brought Clann back into contention, such that the sides were only 2 points apart at half time, Pearses still in front.

Second half was a tense affair, with the teams matching each other up and down the pitch, and even exchanging the lead a few times, before Clann pulled away in the last few minutes, to finish strongly and emerge as League champions with a final score of 4-9 to 3-6.

A strong Clann support was in attendance, and rousing cheers were heard as Clann captain Ian Harney held the trophy aloft. Full credit to Pearses, who were worthy contenders, and will no doubt regroup to be a team to watch out for in the Championship.

As for the Clann team, this was a well deserved victory, made all the sweeter due to the fact that this was the first title won by this crop of lads. May it be the first of many!

The Clann U14 management would like thank St Aidans for hosting the final, as well as all the loyal supporters who braved the elements. On Friday next, (9th June) the Div 4 team face Éire Óg in their own final, in Rockfield Oran at 19:30. Best of luck lads! Clann Abú!
